POSITION SUMMARY:
We seek a seasoned Controller to be part of our growing team. This person will manage Theradaptive’s accounting functions, ensuring adherence to all regulatory standards and leading financial reporting and statements, compliance, and auditing. The Controller will provide strategic financial insights to support our growth. This is a part-time, hourly position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the timely preparation and filing of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure financial reporting is in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and any other applicable regulations.
- Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts, income statement, and cash flow statements.
- Prepare reports and present financial data to the Senior Leadership Team and investors, including financial forecasts and budgets.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the company’s budget, forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
- Support grants program, ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and participating in financial reporting, and preparation and submission of reports.
- Oversee cash flow management, working capital, and debt financing.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and tax requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and assist with any tax-related filings.
- Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team on key financial decisions related to fundraising, investments, and other strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to the company’s financial strategy and long-term growth plans.
- Oversee financial risk management, compliance, and internal controls.
- Ensure adherence to government reporting, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or equivalent preferred).
- 10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Experience in a biotech or life sciences company highly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of US generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience managing cash flow and working capital.
- Strong knowledge of FAR, and experience with government grant/contract support ideal.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
POSITION LOCATION:
- This is a remote position, which requires infrequent travel to the company headquarters in Frederick, MD.
